TheLearningBrain is also an artist!
20 Drawings and Paintings have disappeared from the inventory thanks to some great people who have chosen to support my art, work and travel this coming year.
If you’re interested, I’ve still got 30+ pieces left. All the proceeds go to help fund my year living and traveling through out asia (starting July), where I’ll be spending my time volunteering and making artwork.
Art Giveaway!
The facts part: This is one of my original paintings titled “Truth is of No Color”, which is part of the motto from Frederick Douglass’ North Star Newspaper. The painting is acrylic and oil on wood. It’s about 10” x 20”.
The fun part: If this image can get 200 notes, I will take all the tumblr users who liked or reblogged it, put them into a hat and randomly pick one to send the original artwork to for free.
More of my work is available at http://www.etsy.com/shop/SheamusBurns
I’m selling it all to raise money for my year of art-making and volunteering throughout Asia, starting in July. (in case you don’t see it, the brown silhouettes are people falling through space)
I love the internet. I’ve sold more of my artwork since putting up an etsy shop two weeks ago than I’ve sold in the past 2 years.

Hey everyone! As many of you know I’m travelling to India in July to begin a year of making art, volunteering, and travel throughout Asia. I’m looking to raise some money to support this trip (since I won’t be working while I’m there) and have collected all the old artwork that has been sitting in my studio to put on etsy. All the proceeds from the sale of my art will go to my trip through Asia (and also paying off my student loans!) If you would like to get some new art, here’s your chance. Right now I’ve put up about 12 pieces, but more are on there way. I probably have 75 works that I’m going to put up for sale over the next couple days. Please check it out, and share this post if you wouldn’t mind! Thanks! - Sheamus
Keeping in Practice: A still life I spent some time on while my students worked on their own drawings.
Part of this series of drawing/painting meditations I’ve been doing daily for the last week or so.

Check out my cousin Amelia’s very cool photo project, the Homeless Photo Booth on Facebook and Tumblr.
The Homeless Photo Booth Project is a traveling photo booth run by artist Amelia Burns which travels the United States photographing homeless people in a studio setting.

I’ve been working on this still life in charcoal (not my medium of choice) with my afternoon drawing studio students. Almost done.
Spent some time this weekend in photoshop working on this recreation of a 1800s Lawrenceville (the high school I work at) team photo. A talented student photographer and the Athletic Director worked together to have the guys position themselves similar to the 1887 photo, and I had the job as digital designer.
Turned out pretty well.
Just finished this small 10” x 12” gouache (it’s an opaque kind of watercolor paint) painting for a client. It’s of the Kennedy House at Lawrenceville (the school I work/live at). Their son is a member of the house, and It’s going to be a present for him.
