Drudgery of Tricks
[I just found this poem I wrote, scribbled into the back of a book I read last summer, titled “Beauty Truth and Goodness Reframed”]
Drudgery of Tricks
paneled glances
endless asphalt plains
or seas regulated by the DMV
my perception is
construction, fabricated,
tricking me into some
sense of enjoyment
some sense
that what I have
is all I need
or what I need
I can have
at sale prices
or better still:
two for one
deals…
at every corner
a measured angle, planned
to drive me into it.
