Somewhere in China

Somehow I’ve been able to get on Tumblr here in Yunnan province. Most blogging sites were blocked in Beijing, including Tumblr, Facebook, and Twitter. I still am not able to get on facebook, but I’m enjoying this beautiful area. The elevation here is about 10,000 feet and it’s pretty gorgeous.

We’re here at the CERS (China Exploration and Research Society) center, a cultural preservation and research center started by Wong How Man.

The place is absolutely picturesque, with Tibetan style lodges nested on a hillside which overlooks a large plain where yaks and horses roam. I’ll be sure to take some pictures tomorrow and post along with some information about what we’ll be doing here.

In the meantime, I’m exhausted by today’s journey from Beijing and I’m suffering a little bit from the thin air. A good night’s sleep is in order.
