With a great deal of satisfaction for this visit and a heavy stomach from excessive dining, I’m enjoying these remaining moments in Turkey on the terrace of the Obelisk Hotel in Istanbul. The above picture illustrates the view of Sultanahmet Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque: a short walk right up the street.
I came into this trip with expectations few and far between, but I’m leaving with rich memories and a well full of new knowledge about this country, its history, and its people.
While this is the first time I ever really spent time on an organized trip with a tour guide and a bus traveling across country, I think it was a solid orientation to the country, but one which made me feel a great deal like a tourist, something I’m usually averse to. I suppose you get used to it, but it does feel awfully inauthentic at times.
More on Turkey later. For now, let me finish enjoying my breakfast and view.
